If you are depressed you will probably have to fight with yourself. Most likely you don't want to go anywhere or see anyone but that is exactly what you should do to feel better. Go to the park, get a haircut, or have lunch with friend. You need to limit the time you are alone. If you can't get out, invite someone to visit you. Why not? What's to lose?

Perhaps your depression has made you irritable and you are driving people away. Be strong and reverse that behavior. You can't afford the consequences!

Participate in hobbies or pastimes that some other you has enjoyed. You will find pleasure in these things again and it will also give you something to talk about with others.

Volunteering some of your time will help lift your spirits. You will discover new perspectives about all kinds of people. Take a trip to your local Senior Center and learn how you can be useful.

Trail

Consider a pet to keep you company. Visit your animal shelter and look around.

Think about what you eat. Nutrition is important to mental health. Choose foods that provide nourishment and energy. There are lots of resources to help you with good food. Go to a bookstore and browse a few cookbooks.

Get some exercise every day. Even if you are disabled, there are exercises you can do sitting down. You will be amazed at how much better you feel after you have had your blood pumping.

It will seem hard at first, but it will get better and you will feel better too.
