There are many types of heart disease and four are most common among Seniors. These include hypertension, coronary heart disease, heart valve disorders, and rhythm disorders.
Senior Hypertension (High Blood Pressure)
High blood pressure, also called hypertension, is especially common in the elderly. It can damage the heart and other organs and increase the risk of stroke and heart attack. Hypertension has no symptoms and often goes untreated.
Coronary Heart Disease in Seniors
Coronary heart disease is caused by a narrowing of the coronary arteries, which results in a decreased supply of blood and oxygen to the heart. Coronary heart disease can lead to a heart attack and angina, or chest pain.>>More

Heart Valve Disorders

Abnormal heart rhythms are caused by problems with the electrical system that regulates the steady rhythmic beat of the heart. The heartbeat may be too slow or too fast or it may become chaotic.
